“I got the idea for the balaclava purely from pictures I saw of my grandmother’s squares and the headwear made from them. I had never seen anything like it on the street, though. I have worn various woolen hoods for years, but they have been soft and thin. I wanted to make a woolen hood with a sturdy and graphic look. The balaclava is paired with long mittens in the same style and color scheme.”
